Piccolo Bar is a little slice of European aperitivo culture on Roslyn Street, occupying Sydney’s oldest licensed café (opened 1952). Owners George and team have kept the soul but refreshed the style — a long wooden bar, vintage photos, and tiny tables spilling onto the footpath. The drinks list champions vermouth, Negronis and classic Italian spritzes, while the food is simple and perfect: olives, salumi, focaccia, anchovies and cheese. Customers call it “tiny but mighty” — the place to start your night or finish it with a nightcap, in true Kings Cross tradition.
