Dulcie’s

A 1930s drinking den devoted to local legends and all-Australian craft spirits

At Dulcie’s Kings Cross, owner Brandon Martignago has built an entire drinking den around the year 1932. The bar is named after Dulcie Deamer — a New Zealand-born writer, poet, thespian and a regular at some of the biggest parties thrown by the era’s creative circle. She would have felt at home in this moody bohemian lounge, with cocktail creations made with Australian craft spirits and the signature drinks inspired by a roll call of people, places and things part of Dulcie’s colourful world in 1930s Sydney.

Come late into the night and you’ll catch customers playing the piano on what used to be a stage for exotic dances. There are erotic fiction nights and life drawing, too, as well as burlesque performances, in true bohemian spirit.

44B Darlinghurst Road, Kings Cross. Walk-ins only, no bookings.
